I finished watching the Series Finale and this episode has got to be the best! I loved that they sang at the end and Cassie and Sid are finally together! This episode was amazing, from the beginning to end it had me captivated to see how everything was going to end with all of the characters! My favorite part had to be at the end when Sid was singing and Tony, lying on the floor dead, was also singing! It was funny yet sad that Tony got hit by a bus!

The moment I realized that I loved this show was at the end. I had to watch until the very end to see what was going to happen, and then Sid started to sing. I was very impressed and I was fascinated that they tried to add a bit of “comic relief” since Tony got hit by a bus and he was even singing! This also left me wondering if he is still alive or if he died because he was lying on the floor dead while singing. I feel that this song tied all of the loose ends of the series because it was a couple of characters singing the song with Sid (Tony, Angie, Chris), and this song gave the theme for the series. The theme song of the show had nothing to do with the meaning of the show, and that’s why I feel that this ending added all of the loose ends to the show. I especially loved the end scene when Sid goes to the place where Cassie almost committed suicide and finds her sitting there watching the full moon, and the series ends withe them saying hello. I also liked that Anwar finally revealed to his dad that Maxxie was gay, and his dad accepted him for who he was and didn’t judge him for anything. At this point nothing that the show’s creators did offended me, I was satisfied with every bit of the series.

I was looking up information about the ratings and the comments for Skins, and I read on http://www.tvguide.co.uk/cast.asp?title=skins& that the ratings are 8.8. Most of the comments for the show are “amazing” and positive comments reflecting on the show’s characters as well as the plot. According to more information that I was reading, this show is known for the cast to be of amateur actresses and actors. As the producers started making new seasons, the cast has completely changed, and now they are hearing talks about the US remaking Skins (which I think will be a disaster). How can the US develop a show like Skins with the same topics when they censor all of the topics that are discussed? I think that’s what made Skins more interesting.

The show Skins has nothing to do with the media changing in numerous ways after 9/11. I am guessing this is because is a British show and it could not relate to any of the topic nor stories that these characters went through.  The costume designs for the characters did reflect the personalities as well as religions, in the case of Anwar. When Anwar had to pray with his family or by himself, he had to put on his robe to pray. The rest of the characters dressed casual, like normal teens. According to Amazon.com, Skins does have a soundtrack, but the one song that was at the end did help the mood of the show.

From the creators of the show, they seem to want to discuss topics that have been taboo to the youth audiences, especially here in America. Some of the stories reflect to them when they were younger, but I think that the producers and the creators did an amazing  job with the episodes as well as handling the topics that have been discussed throughout the series. In my opinion, I am glad that the creators had the guts to make this show about these things that teens deal with, and that the show is very popular that now the US wants to make their version.

Overall I rate this episode 5/5 and I recommend it to my best friend, especially the final episode of the Series. I know that she will like the song that they sing in the end and find Tony’s situation funny.  I loved the show and watching the series and I am going to keep watching Series 2 and 3! Effy, Tony’s sister, is portrayed as the young and innocent girl in front of her parents, and then late at night Tony helps her sneak out of the house. This reminds me of the beginning of the 1st episode, when it shows Effy sneaking into the house with Tony’s help. In the episodes she was never really mentioned, until now. Another main problem that is going on is between Sid and Cassie. Finally Sid tells Cassie that he loves her, yet in the end he ruins this by deciding to choose his friendship with Tony over Cassie.

This episode was my favorite because of all the bad things that happened to Tony. Tony’s ex girlfriend and friends didn’t want to see him anymore, his family didn’t pay any mind to him, and his best friend was always seen as an underdog to him. In this episode, the one person Tony seems to truly love is the one that is going to suffer the consequences. Sometimes in other TV shows it’s always the same thing, for the arrogant character to learn a lesson, the person that he truly loves becomes a victim. In this case, Effy, Tony’s sister, became the victim.

I also liked this episode because in the end after Tony realizes everything that he has done, he also takes time to appreciate the friendship that he has with Sid. Tony even tells Sid that when he was with his sister he wanted Sid to be there no matter what. This demonstrated a huge character development for Tony because now he was being sorry and apologetic for all the bad things that he has done and has turned it upside down. Now with the series finale being next I want to see if Tony and Michelle get back together, and if she takes him back.

One thing that I wanted to point out from the episode is the character  Effy. Effy is always quiet and never says anything, and in this episode she only mentioned one line while she was getting high. I feel like this character represents something. Effy, being all innocent at home to sneaking out of her house and getting high with friends, I feel that this represents all of the bad things coming together for all of the characters in the series. I was very intrigued when she spoke, making it suspenseful as well as important. I felt the creators wanted to show Effy as the one to bring back peace and finally change the ways of Tony, since he was the main “stress” throughout all of the episodes.

Overall I have realized that this is a show that I don’t usually watch, and the topics that are being dealt with would never be shown in the U.S. I am glad that I have taken the opportunity to watch shows that are not based in the US and can watch how other cultures deal with the same drama that anyone goes through.

I rate this episode 3.5/5 and cannot wait to see the series finale!

I believe that some outside influences that could have affected this episode as well as the show is the technology that one uses as well as the discussions that families go through. Technology plays a huge role in this episode because it is the reason as to why Michelle breaks up with Josh (Abigail’s brother). Tony decides to take revenge on Josh and sends naked pictures of Abigail making it believe it was through Josh’s cell phone. I personally still have a HUGE hate toward Tony and I am just waiting to see what happens on the season finale. I want something bad happen to Tony because of everything he has done! Another outside influence that affected this episode was the role of discussions that families go through. Each topic that I have seen so far all have to do with things that I have even discussed with my mom about. This show relates to real life topics, and it captivates the majority of the younger audience.

Before watching this episode, I did some more research on the series and I happened to find out that these episodes were aired in 2007, making this a current show for the youth audience. Another thing that I have noticed is that this show is not afraid to discuss any topics or problems, and it is because its a show that was made in the UK. In England, the people do not censor topics like the US and are more liberal about sex and drugs. I believe this is why I find it difficult to see a show like Skins air in the US (unless its on BBC).

Overall I rate this episode 2.3/5. I chose the picture on the top because I find that is what Michelle based everything on to help calm herself. Her only solution to her problems was by drinking. Maybe that’s a part of the British culture too? I should investigate on that. I found this episode average, I didn’t like most of the episode since it dealt with Michelle, but I would like to see if anything happens between Sid and Cassie.

What offended me a little about this episode was Tony wanting Maxxie to have sex with him. I found this upsetting because Maxxie, being upset and needing a friend to talk to, has Tony the ”sex feen” wanting to experience different things because the class took a trip to Russia. I hate Tony. I hope something bad happens to him by the end of this season, and if it does, well, he DESERVES it!

I believe the most challenging thing part of the show was Anwar and Maxxie talking about Maxxie’s sexuality and how much it affected their friendship, and also Anwar losing his virginity to a woman he rescued in Russia. Both of these topics were the most intense and besides all of the things that were going on with the rest of the characters, I was more anxious to see what was going to happen to Maxxie and Anwar’s friendship than seeing Chris and his teacher Angie FINALLY having sex.

From the six episodes that I have seen so far, most of the topics that are discussed on the show are based on realistic issues that most parents would not even like to discuss to their children. It reminds me of when we were discussing media and if it influences children. I think the reason that children and teens watch shows like Skins and Degrassi is because parents don’t discuss these issues, so they refer to tv shows and movies to learn about society and things that they go through.

 I just finished watching the episode “Sid” and i must say it was way better than the first episode that they had of Sid! One can see that Sid is just a boy who wants to be loved by the girl of his dreams yet is chased by his self centered friend Tony. It seems like in this episode Tony wants to make fun of Sid, and that makes me HATE Tony. Tony knows how much Sid loves Michelle and he goes on and pulls pranks on Sid so he could sleep with Michelle? UGH! And Sid also pissed me off! Cassie didnt eat for three days just to get ready for the date and then Sid says he can’t go? And the poor girl ends up in the hospital with an overdose because Sid doesnt like her? COME ON! I was soooooo pissed I just wanted the episode to finish! Overall, the ending made sense, it was just ironic how in te beginning his dad was groundng him for having done poorly in school but in the end Sid id the one grounding his dad because his mother left the house? Thats crazy stuff. I give this episode a 6.5/10, again the episode spoke about topics such as family problems, relationships and a little lesson about life and not to take things for granted. What I liked about thi episode was when Sid got beat up by the gang of girls! The picture is on top! They were asking him “did you cheek me?” and I didnt even know what that was! I guessed it was offensive since they got all agressive and beat the crap out of Sid! I liked the episode, I thought that it was a bt better than the others since it didnt involve so much about sex and drugs, but more about self confidence and friendships.

I am up to half of the episode and it is really good! Chris has just noticed that out of the $1,000 that his mom left him he has no more. He goes up to his mom’s room to check if she has any more money but realizes that she has left and taken all of her clothes. I like this picture because at this point it shows all of his insecurities and what he really is and the situation that he is put in now living alone with no money. One of my favorite quotes that Chris says to his teacher Angela is “dancing is, like the best thing in the world…because it makes you healthy, in your body, and it makes your head better too”. That was just something out of random that I liked because I personally live for music, and I am also a hopeless romantic.

Chris seems to have a lot of issues and throughout the episode his past doesnt see to be clear. It looks like his mom was an addict just like Chris because his dad calls them both a “fuck-up”. He mentions that his stepmother does not have any baby pictures of him but of his brother Peter. Something that reall shocked me was when Chris was holding his baby stepbrother and DROPPED HIM ON THE FLOOR!! I shook! like my heart LITREALLY skipped a beat!! It was crazy! 

I just finished watching the entire episode “Chris” and I just thought it was pretty interesting how in the end of the episode he was happy with his one little fish that his teacher Angie gave him and pills that e found in is new home. I thought it was funny he drank water from the little fish bowl…EWWWW! But I just think it shows a lot of how teens go through the situations of drugs and some not having their parents to support them. Overall this episode just taught me that sometimes others have worst situatons that you and in life on should help those people. I rate this episode 8/10. It was another one of my favorites.

I just finished watching the episode and I must say that the second episode “Cassie” is my favorite from the three so far. This episode dealt with the struggles that Jal goes through in her life and the fact that her mom is gone and her dad is a famous rapper puts her under the pressure of her dads career and her brothers always being a bother. I didnt really like this episode because of the way that Jal acts. She’s a girl with a strong personality and speaks what’s on her mind and some things that she says bug me SOOOOO much its like UGH I want to smack her! On the other hand, Sid deals with the fact that he needs to pay up Mad Twatter and the only thing that I actually liked about Jal was that she helped Sid out and gave away her clarinet just to help him out. Even though Madison aka Mad Twatter destroys it, it shows that Jal cares more about friendship than anything else, and I can relate to that. Overall I give this episode a 5 out of 10 and the only thing that kept me anxious to see the next episode that Jal’s dad took Madison and who knows whats going to happen!

OMG! So I just watched the first 7 minutes of the episode and it is TOOO funny! It starts off with Cassie waking up with her hands full of vomit, and they are in Michelle’s house. The scene looks like they just had a party the night before and all are wasted sleeping on the floor and things have been thrown all over the place. Cassie is about to leave but mentions Michelle the fact that her mom is supposed to be arriving that day. Once Cassie is leaving she sees Michelle’s mom and stepdad and mentions to Cassie tha clients are going over the house to look at curtains. 5 seconds later you hear Michelle’s mom screaming and Tony and his friends are running out half naked!!! That was FUNNY!!!!

Okay I just finished watching the entire episode of “Cassie” and I have to point out on a few things that seemed important to me throughout the episode. First there was a part of symbolism when Cassie was on the bus and she was surrounded by people eating. The post it note that she picked from Sid’s forehead said “EAT!” and all of the text messages she was receiving were hallucinations from not eating. What also shocked me was Cassie stuffing weighs under her skirt to add more weight, and the struggles of drinking water to gaining weight. That was scary, to know that you dont want to help yourself. At the end of the episode I was pretty impressed with the fact that she seeks help on the one person that would always support her no matter what, the clinic’s driver. I liked this episode more than the first one! i thought it had more comedy yet talked about an issue that most people go through. The funniest parts of the episode had to do with Sid and Mad Twatter, the fact that Mad Twatter was also going to rehab with Cassie and he ended up being s supply teacher for Sid and his class. If I could rate this episode out of 10 I would give it a 9.5. It has two thinks that I like: comedy and a topic that speaks about things most teens go through.

I just finished watching the first full episode and I liked the way that each of the characters in the series have different situations going on. This main episode began with an intro of  Tony and his friends. Tony, thinking he’s a good friend, wanted Sid to lose his virginity. The funniest part of the entire episode is when Tony and his friends are in the car waiting for Anwar to finish peeing in the tree and by mistake press the car on drive and the car ends up falling in the lake! I couldnt stop LAUGHING!!! I think that the most challenging part of this episode was Sid trying to find ways to lose his virginity and in the end of the episode he was back to square one. The part that I think was less challenging trying to include the humor in the episode. Everything that these characters did, especially Sid was hilarious. Another funny part  was when the French girl wanted to have sex with Tony’s friend while Michelle had to take her friend to the hospital because of an overdose. I felt that this scene had three different situations going on at the same time and THAT made it seem funnier! While Tony was driving as fast as he could behind him was Michelle, Anwar and their friend carrying Michelle’s friend that was overdosed while behind them was the French girl having sex with Tony’s friend!! Overall I feel that this show has a lot of humor and a lot of topics that parents would not want their children to watch, like a British version of the Canadan series Degrassi I cant wait to see more episodes!! IM STOKED!!!
